‘An old stone barn conversion into a studio / growing space opening onto a central courtyard design. The courtyard is to have a central water feature connecting into the current rainwater drainage system through the courtyard. Materials mimic the local stone, utilising granite set paving and gravel with new Cornish stone walls to create the boundaries, separating parking from the ‘garden’ space. A palette of naturalistic and mostly native coastal or mediterranean perennials have been chosen for this south facing courtyard, which gets extremely hot in the summer, as well as wet and windy in the winter months.’
